Feature request: Create dozzle.conf or Environment Variables for the Settings

I find myself having to set the settings to my desires every time I restart my browser. The go back to "default". I assume this is because for provacy reasons I'm always starting with with a "clean" browser.

I would like different defaults than those in the program as I am sure many people personalize.

Is it possible to add either a config file or use Docker Environment Variables?

Do you use authentication? It syncs your settings to disk.

No I don't as everyone allowed to access dozzle is allowed to see everything. It is only accessible from the (limited) local network.

But still, user settings on disk (local or server??) is not the same as adaptable default settings.

Sorry, I am just not in agreement on doing this. If Dozzle has multiple users, then each user should have their own profile. Having a single default profile is not how I would use Dozzle. It would lead to confusion and I would have to do handle conflicts which is complicated.

There is also a workaround. Just setup reverse proxy for auth, and have everybody be authenticated.

I understand what you're saying. I'm not talking about forced values but to set different default values through docker compose to initially show (and work) on the settings screen - what individual users do after that - I couldn't care less ;)

But - your program.... It's only a feature request by an overall satified user!

Maybe one day I can get Claude to generate a simple solution. However, I am against it because the number of flags, customizations, and overrides in Dozzle is becoming overwhelming. Maintenance is challenging, and many people want specific features.

You are the second asking for this feature this month though. So hopefully people can vote to help me priortize.

I came up with a simple solution to just use __default__ user when there is no authentication configured. This way you can copy the json file and put it in data. Implemented in #4550
