[product] non-tree nodes glitch out when auto-tree is enabled

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a simple graph and turn auto tree on.
2. Once the tree forms add a node anywhere.
3. Moving it around should trigger glitchy behavior and a message in the console (attached via screenshot)
