NSPanel Hardware version?

Is there a way, on a panel flashed with this project, to read out the hardware version of the product? @edwardtfn

(Why I need it: I have a couple of panels and they differ in physical size, I have to deduce it's a result of h/w version since there's no documented difference; I want to order more but I must have them with the size of one and not the other, since the other does not fit into the target wall box)

I was not aware of different hardware versions... are you sure you are not comparing NSPanel and NSPanel Pro?
Do you have a picture of those so we can understand what are the differences?
I can investigate if this info could be collected via software.

Hehe no, I'm not comparing apples to walking shoes 🤣 in fact I have both running your fabulous code.

I found it curious too. One of the two is the black/grey version ("NSPanel EU"), the other is the white version ("NSPanel EUW"). I mounted the white one and it went into place (a round, EU-style in wall box) smoothly and nicely; then I went on to mount the grey one it just wouldn't go in, no matter what. I thought I had a bad in wall box but when I made some measurement, I found that the white one is in fact a couple mm smaller where it mattered most (at the corners). Since the official docs do not reveal any size difference between these two models - just the color - I figured this had to be related to a hardware version... Hence my question.

This is not a "feature request" by any stretch - if there's a Q&D way to read this out it would be as good - I just want to solve this puzzle, so when I order new ones I'll increase the chances of getting the correct ones.

Interesting. I've done a bit of research after reading the original post and officially, the models are only two. 120 (US) and 86 (EU).
The only reference I found was EUW was sometimes used when referring to the white variety of the EU model and USW is the same in the US model. I've never found any slightly different models (apart from the pros). I wonder was there a run of a few different ones for some reason or are we dealing with a fake re-branded panel?

I honestly don't know. My sample size is small (two units, which happen to be from the two color varieties - one grey/black and one white. The grey one is also quite a bit older than the white one in terms of purchase date). I believe that commercially, the indication of EUW and USW indeed indicates just the outside color.
So the difference I'm seeing could be a result of either of --

1. My grey one is an older h/w version, the more recent h/w versions have some mod to the physical size, maybe to deal with users' feedback about not fitting in a round box (just a thought).
2. The grey and the white varieties actually differ in size (meh).
3. At least one of the items I have is a counterfeit (I think I got both from Aliexpress sellers, different ones).

My initial bet is still on (1), which is why I asked the original question.

Nono, valid question, I just am trying to work out how it could happen. I think edwardtfn will be the one to see if the HW ver is possible to extract.
